So if you weren't aware, Lisa Mitchell's new album Bless This Mess was released today and so I thought I should share one of the outstanding tracks. "The Story of the Raven and the Mushroom Man" (that's a mouthful) is probably the most upbeat track on the album, but then again there's nothing like an upbeat song to put you in a good mood. It's good to see that Lisa has maintained that sense of innocence that accompanied so many of her previous releases.

[Indie - Pop] Lighthouse and The Whaler - Chromatic
Lighthouse and The Whaler have just recently released their second album This Is an Adventure and it really is quite the adventure, they haven't lied there. "Chromatic" is a delightful indie pop number containing some really beautiful instrumentation. The use of the violin, glockenspiel, guitar, wandering synths and the occasional handclap all truly add a lot to the emotion of the song. So check out the rest of the album as I'm sure you'll find a few more gems in there.

[Electro - Pop] Icona Pop - We Got The World
Well remember a couple of months ago when I said that "I Love It" would be the biggest thing to hit 2012 .... well, I wasn't counting on Icona Pop to release another absolute banger. "We Got The World" is an uptempo dance track from the upcoming EP Iconic. It's an explosive pop single that has shades of Calvin Harris with those pummelling house beats. If "I Love It" didn't quite cross over to mainstream, "We Got The World" has definite hit potential.

[Indie - Pop] The Salvadors - Hola Nirvana
Adelaide's The Salvadors just dropped their debut album Holy Drunken Fisherman late last week and boy is it a surprise package. I think it's safe to say that they are highly influenced by Two Door Cinema Club's old work. Their summery vibe is also of a very similar style to the Last Dinosaurs. Good to see that the Rolling Stone Magazine highlighted these guys as an "Aussie Act to Watch" because there is definitely something special here.

[Indie - Pop] San Cisco - Wild Things
A year older and a little wiser, Perth's San Cisco are back with their brand new single "Wild Things". After a rather successful last 12 months I'm glad to see that they are back with a much more mature sound. That's not to say that they haven't maintained that sense of adorability that Australia had fallen in love with in the first place. Those truly earnest vocals from Jordi and Scarlett accompanied with the ever playful percussion will make you oh so so happy.

[Alternative] The Zolas - Knot In My Heart
There's a lot of decent indie rock coming from Canada these days and I'm glad that I've stumbled upon The Zolas today. They released their second album Ancient Mars a fews days ago and it ticks all the right boxes for me. "Knot In My Heart" was definitely the highlight with its oddly catchy chorus. The chorus justs plays off the verses so well in this melodic lo-fi single which warrants replay after replay.
